Hardwood floor refinishing in Glenora

What is usually under a Glenora floor
Glenora was laid out before the First World War and built out in waves after it, so the houses run from early twentieth century through to substantial post-war builds. That range shows up underfoot. In the older parts you find narrow strip oak, sometimes with a decorative border around the edge of a dining room, and in some houses fir subfloor under later carpet. The larger post-war homes tend to be on the two and a quarter inch red oak that was the Alberta standard for decades.
A lot of these floors have been under broadloom since the 1970s, which is the best thing that could have happened to them. Carpet takes the traffic and the sunlight for fifty years and the oak underneath comes up in far better condition than the owner expects. If you are about to pull carpet in a Glenora house, it is worth having someone look at what is under it before you assume you are replacing a floor.
Working in a finished house
Most Glenora jobs happen in a house somebody lives in, with furniture in it and a schedule around it.
